The organization, whose color language supports color-conscious industries such as architectural and interior design, debuted its color pick of the year. Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2023 is Viva Magenta 18-750.
Pantone started the program in 2000, highlighting the relationship between color and culture. Each year’s colors are chosen because they reflect the global culture at a specific time.
Pantone says, “Magenta balances boldness and fun, confidence and humanity. It likens that to how digital spaces have accelerated globalization, allowing people to connect with others and deepen their empathy. Viva Magenta cloaks us in power and grace and sends us out into the world with the verve we’ve yearned for.”
The “Magentaverse” has already made its way into consumer goods such as sneakers, cellphones, and wallpaper. But why stop there? Lighting can allow architects and designers to incorporate the Color of the Year in an unexpected way.
Let’s examine which lighting manufacturers can fulfill Viva Magenta’s fun and energy.
